What is IELTS for UKVI

영국에서 거주하거나 이주하기 위해 비자를 신청할 경우, 영국비자이민국(UKVI, United Kingdom Visas & Immigration)에서 발표한 변경사항을 숙지하셔야 합니다. IELTS General Training과 IELTS Academic 시험 뿐 아니라, 새로운 시험인 IELTS Life Skills이 시행됩니다. 영국정부의 정책은 2015년 4월 6일부터 효력이 발생하며, 2015년 4월 5일 이전 응시한 시험점수는 2015년 11월 5일까지 영국비자 신청용으로 사용할 수 있습니다.

※ IDP 한국지사는 영국비자이민국으로부터 승인받은 시험센터입니다. 시험 접수 전 영국비자이민국 사이트에서 어떤 시험에 응시해야하는지 확인하시기 바랍니다.

Student route 학생비자를 위한 중요 공지

※ pre-sessional or foundation program 제외 사항입니다.

Student route Sponsor (구 Highly Trusted Sponsor) 로 지정된 학교에서 학사나 석사를 공부하기 위해 Student route 학생비자를 신청하는 경우, 해당 학교에서 정한 영어레벨 조건을 따르면 됩니다. 영국의 모든 대학들은 IELTS 점수를 인정하며, 지원 예정 학교에서 영국비자신청용 IELTS 점수를 요구한 것이 아니라면 일반 IELTS를 응시해도 됨을 의미합니다.

1 Both Academic and General Training are accepted. The CEFR requirement for each skill must be met.
2 IELTS is accepted by UKVI at band scores 4.0 and above, equivalent to CEFR level B1.
3 Universities on UKVI's list of Tier 4 Sponsors decide which exams to accept when a SELT is not required, and these may include IELTS taken at any of the 1000+ IELTS test locations.
4 IELTS can be used where IELTS Life Skills is used; candidates would need to get 4.0 or above in Speaking and Listening (scores for Reading and Writing will be ignored).
5 Currently, UKVI will also accept an Ofqual regulated test for this category. The test must cover Speaking and Listening at B1 level.

Please note that these changes do not affect the use of IELTS by people from the European Union, European Economic Area, Switzerland and 'majority English speaking countries' as defined by the UK Home Office.
